IL CUORE WINES

Il Cuore means the heart in Italian, the language of romance. What better way to celebrate St. Valentine's day with a selection of these wines, your significant other will be impressed. We offer the following:

IL CUORE CHARDONNAY 2006 - the grapes for this wine come from the cool coastal region of Mendocino County and grace the wine with apple and pear flavors, complemented by floral nuances in the bouquet. It is fresh and graceful which are the result of cold-fermentation in stainless steel vessels and some neutral oak so that the fruit of the wine shines. Great with fish, shellfish, crab cakes, light pasta, vegetarian casserole and mildly spiced Asian dishes. $9.99 NET

IL CUORE ROSSO 2005 - a unique blend of Zinfandel, Merlot, Malbec and Barbera. A medium bodied yet expressive wine with exuberant berries, plum and ripe cherries note. This wine would be excellent with oven-roasted salmon, grilled eggplant and has enough acidity to marry well with spicy cuisine or dishes with tons of garlic. $9.99 NET

IL CUORE BARBERA 2005 - 89% Barbera and 11% Zinfandel. Bright raspberry aromas and rich cane fruit flavors offer attractive complexity, aided by plum and spicy Zinfandel notes. WINE OF THE MONTH CLUB
Over the years some of our customers have inquired about the possibility of establishing a Wine of the Month club through our store. We finally decided to give it a try. Essentially it is based on the notion that we taste numerous wines every month and are thus in a position to decide what's good, what's great and what's plonk. If plonk interests you Trader Joe has plenty of it. We try to find quality wines from small producers who are passionate about their wines and don't just see them simply as merchandise.

We are offering two levels of wines for the club.

Level I consists of two bottles, one white one red that would retail around $20. -. Your monthly charge would be $30. - and the wines will be available by the 10th of the month.

Level II wines will average around $30.- per bottle and the monthly charge for two bottles will be $50.-.You can choose one red and one white, or two of each type. The quality level will be superior and the wines will meet criteria for current consumption and ageability.

There is no membership fee; payment is purely for the wines you will receive. We do have the following options available:

Level I $30 - Per month

Prepay 3 months $90.

Prepay one year $350.

Level II $50 - Per month

Prepay 3 Months $150.

Prepay one year $550.

If you decide to pay on a monthly basis we will keep your credit card on file and charge you at the beginning of each month. You will be notified by e-mail or phone when the wines are ready for pickup. This is a sound route to enjoying wines from all over the world without any effort on your part. Reply to this email with your level request and the types of wines (red or white ) you would like to receive.

SUPERBOWL SATURDAY WINE TASTING

In preparation for the Patriots win over the Giants (!) we are promoting the following wines at our tasting this Saturday from 2-5pm!

ST PAULS ALTO ADIGE PINOT GRIGIO 2004 - Some people say white wine can't age. It depends on the type of grapes, quality of the winemaking and where it has been stored! We bought the rest of the little Pinot Grigio to offer a great deal with little cost to you our customer! Located next to St. Michael Eppen, this cooperative creates a wine with essential personality and character, its lush fruit and striking minerality. $8.99 NET

BUTTONWOOD SAUVIGNON BLANC 2006 - We love the acidity and quality of this little sauvignon blanc from Santa Barbera's Santa Ynez valley. It is crisp, refreshing and focused. A pale straw color glistens in the glass and encourages a swirl that results in a somewhat exotic bouquet of kiwi, guava and lemon-lime jumping from the glass. On the palate, the wine is light and lively, with honeydew melon, lemon zest and a hint of fennel being complemented by the creamy, round textural components from the semillon. The finish is lasting, sleek and citrusy. $12.99

ROCCA DELLE MACIE 2005 CHIANTI CLASSICO - A young winery, especially set alongside the centuries old history of so many of the famous wineries in the Chianti area. Nevertheless, in less than 30 years it has forged a reputation throughout the wine world as one of Chianti's most highly regarded estates.

Beginning in the vineyard, selective herbicide methods are used to respect the environment and the workers. Fertilization is completely organic. In addition to producing extraordinary wines, they produce cold pressed olive oil from over 15 thousand olive trees and honey from the 18 hectares of flowers surrounding the beehives.

Medium to deep ruby color with aromas of sour cherry, cranberry, cedar, camphor and violets. Dry, crisp, balanced with a warm cranberry fruit tone coming on in the mid palate. Medium-bodied with a lingering, warm fruit with a crisp finish. Made up of Sangiovese 90%; Canaiolo 5%; Merlot 5%. $15.99

CHATEAU PIBARNON 2001 BANDOL - The red Bandol is made from 95% Mourvedre. The grapes are harvested as each separate vineyard reaches full maturity. Destemming is carried out (this takes away much of Mourvedre's more ferocious tannins) and the grapes fermented in huge stainless steel cuves. Saignee (bleeding of the vats) is used to concentrate the red must and give a suitable base for their rose wine. After fermentation the wines are racked into large old oak foudres where they remain for 18 months before blending and bottling.

This rouge is deep purple, almost black, with aromas of dark raspberries and cassis. It is extraordinarily rich with stunning depth of fruit and soft supple, ripe tannins. The structure enables this to age for decades, but the balance and style of the wine will make it very approachable young. The finish lasts well over a minute. $36.99
